Diary Entry: 25th August 2024

Last time we spoke I was entering the summer holidays ☀️

A time when I flex and prioritise family time alongside work even more than normal.

And its been another month of amazing learning for me.

Firstly, my god did I need the break.

I was unknowingly running on empty for weeks before I went on leave.

And even though it was a full on week, I came back with a much fuller tank ready to run the business again.

And then This Morning called and that topped my energetic fuel to the brim ⛽️

So as I said to the team – I’m back! 💥

Highlights of the last month include:

– Bank of England reducing the base rate 📉 YES! Rates are coming down! 👏🏻

– 2 appearances on This Morning as their mortgage expert 📺 and ITV coming over to film 🎥 This still blows my mind. I totally manifested this 💥

– More mortgage leads than we’ve had in the last 3 months 📈 We are still in a position where we don’t have to invest in ads and it’s brilliant seeing it work!

And the challenges ⚠️

– My marketing apprentice not working out 😔 We really tried.

– Fixing operational pressures and trying to get everyone up to speed 🚀

– Criticising myself in the process of trying to get it right

– Trying not to take it personally when people explore other paths. This was a big one!

I’ve learnt a lot this month.

And the word of the month for me is – Patience!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.

You can do anything but not everything, and certainly not all at once.

And I am guilty of driving at full speed 🚗

I want everyone to keep up with me. And the vision I have 🚀

But sometimes I need to clear up before I charge ahead.

Certainly while the operational pressures are still being tweaked.

But my issue is, I can SEE it 👀

I can visualise the whole thing so clearly 💫

I can just FEEL when I’ve landed on an idea 💡

And then I want to execute it immediately.

But that’s not always smart 🧠

Sometimes that can create chaos 🌪️

And excitement and chaos live quite close together.

It’s great to be excited.

It’s addictive.

But chaos isn’t fun for anyone.

And I’m realising there is a discipline to leadership I’d never fully appreciated.

A patience and a trust in the timing.

And a willingness to strategise.

Rather than jump in.

This is new for me so I look forward to seeing the effects of its lesson.

For the next month I am planning 🤓

Working out the best times to execute and the best ways.

And I am getting this Mortgage Mum ship in order, ready to rise.

Something big is coming. I can feel it.

But everything needs to be working just right when the moment of opportunity arises.

So I’m in full on prep mode 🚀

And I am actually finding excitement in this phase. A new one for me!

I’ll let you know how it goes in the weeks ahead.

How has your month been? 📆
