Sue joined The Mortgage Mum in 2020 after selling her family business. Before this, Sue ran a successful party and event company with her husband Adrian for many years, but when she reached the big Five OH! – reality begun to sink in that this was not the most suitable career to take her through to her retirement years.

With her passion for providing great customer service and good organisational skills, Sue loved her job, but had begun to struggle with the physical side of the business, and deep down she knew it was time to look for another career path where she could put her skills to use that wasn’t so physically demanding. It took a few more years for her to pluck up the courage to sell the family business, and look for a change of career as this was an industry Sue knew well, but deep down she knew it was the right thing to do.

Due to the early success of their business, and their interest in property, Sue and Adrian had been able to dabble in the Buy to Let property market both here in the UK, and in Florida, owning several short term holiday rental properties, where they had some amazing family holidays with their children Curt & Kelsey when they were little.

In 2002 Sue was approached by her financial advisor, and then mortgage advisor, who knew her passion for property, and encouraged Sue to sign up to study for her CeMAP qualification to become a Mortgage Advisor. However, after getting all the books and study material it was decided that it wasn’t the right time due to the business taking off, so the idea was put on hold. Fast forward to 2020 and now is the time!

After selling the business Sue knew she what she wanted to do. She had come across Sarah Tucker, owner of The Mortgage Mum after seeing her on The Voice in 2019, and asked if she would consider taking her on once qualified and helping her in this new chapter in her life.

“ I love the fact I can use my passion to provide a great customer service to help clients to achieve their property dreams. Whether that is to buy their first property and get on the property ladder, or help someone move to their forever home, or assist someone releasing funds to do those much needed renovation projects. I love the challenge and the achievement it brings!”

Sue completed her final CeMAP exams in June 2020 and is now a fully qualified Mortgage Advisor, but she is looking to continue her studies to be a Mortgage Mum Specialist for Equity Release mortgages in the near future.

Sue loves family time, and is now a doting nan to her first grandson Jacob. In her younger years she was a keen horse woman competing at County level, but she has since hung up the riding hat and loves the more simple things in life – time in the hot tub, watching the latest Netflix series, occasional theatre outings and eating out with friends and family.
