Mum to one son, Karen Allen has been a self-employed mortgage broker working from home since her son was young. Now with her son a teenager, Karen has decided to share her wealth of knowledge gained from her own career to train and guide our newly recruited Mortgage Mums into successful brokers.
Karen’s career background is in finance with 12 years working for a major building society, which included being a mortgage underwriter and then managing an intermediary mortgage unit team assisting a fleet of mortgage brokers across Essex. After helping mortgage brokers for many years and subsequently working with a financial consultancy firm, Karen decided to take the plunge and become a broker herself and has never looked back since.

Karen loves to turn to her creative side when relaxing, always content drawing or crafting gifts for her friends and family. Family time is very important and Karen enjoys spending time with her friends, especially whilst taking long walks in the countryside.
If not at home in Essex, you will find Karen in Norfolk. Her passion is her coastal chalet in Winterton-on-Sea. Karen says “I spend as much of my time as possible in Norfolk, breathing in that sea air and taking long walks. My dream is to move there one day – to live in the peaceful countryside with the beach and my family close by”.
